本书侧重介绍有关中国儿童电影的发展与资讯。作者通过与外甥女的问答方式，将自身对电影发展的了解和孩子如何学会看电影，逐章逐节写下来，让外甥女带到学校与同学分享。全书分为：“你了解电影吗？”和“你会看电影吗？”两个部分。第一部分共有13个章节，深入浅出地说明电影的起源、发展过程、拍摄手法、特效、电影种类，以及电影的制作团队与制作过程，有助喜爱电影的少年对电影有更深层的认识与了解。

而第二部分共有5个章节，说明看电影的目的、影片如何表达它的含义、如何分析剧中人物形象、对电影的概括、电影中的特技等内容的讲述与介绍，激发少年在看电影时，从中可以多些思考。
